The Revelation of St. John the Divine

It is safe to say that no part of the Scriptures has suffered more at the hands of would-be interpreters than the book commonly known as "The Revelation of St. John the Divine." It is also safe to safe to say that no book of the Bible has received less attention from Bible students than the last book, notwithstanding the fact that in the message of its last pages we find a special blessing pronounced upon all who read and ponder its precepts and keep those things therein contained. The prophecies of the Old Testament and the Gospels themselves recognize Jesus Christ as Prophet, Priest and King. Whatever we may consider the Gospels of the prophetic and priestly ministry of our Lord, they do not tell us anything of His exalted ministry as King. Mr Goard has been fortunate in seeing that in the Apocalypse we have narrated the kingly ministry of Jesus, and, while other writers have suggested the same, it has been the unique work of our author to carry out in a general and most suggestive outline this central idea in his interpretation of he book known as The Revelation of St. John the Divine.
