The Virginia and Bagley Wright Collection
Description:
Published in conjunction with the March 1999 exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum of 72 selections from the Wright collection of contemporary art. Rather than offering a summary history of postwar art told through the examples that the Wrights have acquired, the volume seeks to distill and honor some of their many achievements. Two introductory essays (one by Bagley Wright describing their lives as collectors, and the other describing the Wright's campaign for contemporary art in Seattle), include many color and b&w illustrations of paintings as well as the Wrights, their home, and various museums. The pictorial essay consists of color reproductions of the Seattle exhibition. Distributed by the University of Washington Press. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
