Angkor

This book reveals an Angkor no longer available to the visitor. Here you will find an Angkor as ruins were meant to be experienced: silent, remote -- full of mystery, discovery and romance. It is an Angkor barely emerging from its jungle shroud.These images were made in 1964 well before the arrival of the tourist hordes that now clamber over every rock. And though clearing and archaeological restorations had begun many years before, the work until then concentrated largely on the larger structures, leaving many other fascinating temples in a natural, ruined state partially hidden in the forest - an environment so eloquently captured in these photographs.
