The Wicked Place

The Wicked Place is a 400 page suspense thriller set in Huntsville, Texas and Walker County. It is a provocative tale of good and evil where six women - all college students from Sam Houston State University - have disappeared over the past year. A Windham school teacher (Windham is the school district inside the Texas prison system) Hannah Douglas, disappears the same day an inmate escapes from the Estelle Unit where she teaches, and she is suspected of helping him. Hannah's husband, a detective with the Walker County Sheriff's Department, fears that his beautiful wife has been kidnapped like the other women, even though she is not a college student. His fears, along with their 12 year-old son's, escalate when he discovers why the escapted convict was sent to prison. It is the search for Hannah and the six other women that takes the reader to the wicked place. The author keenly weaves a desire into the reader to genuinely care for some characters and despise others, making it difficult to put the book down at the end of each chapter. The characters are brought to life with engaging dialogue and description, while the setting and mood for this story paint a vivid picture for the reader to visualize. The Wicked Place is a unique story that delves into the human psyche at its best and at its worst.
