Sharing the Earth: Cross-Cultural Experiences in Population, Wildlife & the Environment

Sharing the earth relates the experiences of 16 people seeking to establish a balance between humans and nature, between humans and humans. It dramatizes the challenges to establishing a sustainable ecological future that are presented both by poverty and rapid population growth and by wealth and high resource consumption. Perhaps most surprisingly, it reveals the rapid pace of environmental destruction caused by America's high resource demands, frequently exceeding the rate of degradation in poorer, more densely populated countries
