Back to the Beanstalk: Enchantment and Reality for Couples

In this new edition of a work on the use of narrative in an experiential approach informed by Gestalt principles, Judith Brown, a Gestalt teacher and therapist, enters the world of folktale in order to help readers recognize their own behaviour in marriages and other intimate relationships. For Brown, the trials, tribulations, adventures and misadventures of folktale marriages provide exaggerated examples of behaviours with which readers can identify and learn from. By reflecting on the foibles and frustrations of folktale couples, it is hoped that the reader will emerge with a heightened awareness of the self in a relationship, and will have a deeper understanding of the requirements of the relationship.
