Women Who Loved Women

This series was born when a local copying store got a xerox machine that could do enlargements. I began having photographs enlarged from books. I then drew on these enlargements with conte, crayola, and oil pastels and erased segments with nail polish remover. Sometimes I dissolved the images with the liquid paper not made for copies, or I would collage images at some intermediate stage of enlargement. My ultimate aim was to produce a graphically interesting 81/2xll inch image which I then enlarged into 11x17 inch posters on brown toned paper. Twenty of these posters I exhibited at a craft fair in Eugene, Oregon in November, 1983. I expanded the series to 85 posters for shows at OLLIE'S and at VALENCIA ROSE in the San Francisco Bay area in May and June of 1984, producing, via xerox, catalogs for each show. Thanks to information from Keiko Kubo and Peg Cruikshank I expanded the series again into its present form. At the time of this writing (mid-1984) the posters are for sale at Pell's WOMANCRAFTS WEST in San Francisco.
