Description:

We Make The Road By Walking is the fruit of eight years of work by EPICA staff on Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The book examines the role of liberation theology in the new international context. It looks at the Church of the poor in a postwar period in Nicargaua, El Salvador and Guatemala. The indigenous face of the Church in Chiapas and the way women are transforming the Church are highlighted. The defense of the rights of the poor in El Salvador and recovery of historic memory in Guatemala offer hope and challenge. The role of Haiti's "Little Church," and the new relationship between Church and State in Cuba are outlined. The final two sections illuminate the witness of martyrs, and they call for solidarity for the new millennium, especially the Jubilee drive to cancel debts.
