This is an old book. much of it still relevant- It's about custom software development - lessons from the 80's that "modern" developers need to learn-- including-discussion of the flaws in project estimating -chapter 2-as relevant now as when published. The use of professional estimators - makes sense & many cost overruns & schedule slips in software development projects- for the same reasons. aan excellent resource for software metrics- chapter 7 of this book is - a useful introduction. Chapter 8 is based on structured methods but it resonates strongly with the Zachman Framework that is widely popular today. The middle of the book is out of date-still interesting & there are some lessons that apply to the OO world.The section on software quality (chapters 19-21) is as relevant today as when it was written. The isn't the first book on this subject you should read, but it is likely to give you a new and useful perspective on some important issues.like many books this is one that you might buy for very specific knowledge maybe not in its entirety
