Builders Brewers and Burghers Germans of Washington on State

The history of the German contribution to Washington State is one of a series of short ethnic histories which are being published by the Washington State American Revolution Bicentennial Commission. Dale Wirsing has performed a creditable job of research into the source materials available. His emphasis is upon the achievements of such distinguished citizens as Henry Villard, the Weyerhauseers, August Kautz, Bailey Gatzert, the Schoenfeld family, and others of German extraction who have been deeply involved in the settlement and development of the Pacific Northwest.
