The 1980's in the United States represents the last decades which will bid farewell to those African Americans who learned of slavery from former enslaved Africans. These are today's senior grandparents in their 80's and 90's who remain primary resources of the African American experience. They heard from the lips of their ancestors about one of America's worse historical blights - slavery. They know as direct descendants about the inherent cultural and political impact African Americans have had on this Country. Why?
