Days of siege: A journal of the siege of Fort Stanwix in 1777

On August 3, 1777 Col. Barry St. Leger, coming from Niagara, laid siege to Fort Stanwix with a force of 800 British troops and more than 1,000 Indians. The siege lasted 19 days and, due to the critical importance of the east-west waterways the Fort guarded, was a pivotal battle in the Revolutionary War.
