Description:
As this memoir reveals, American politics has been stalked by a relentless "posse" of conservatives during the thirty years since the Republican presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater in 1964. In November, 1994 this posse finally gunned down an aging political establishment, giving rise in the media and elsewhere to the question, "Who ARE those guys?"
In this memoir, Clif White answers that question, revealing the principles and people of the conservative movement in politics.
In addition to telling fifty years of American political history and giving practical lessons for running for public office, his book is also a moving account of White's spiritual journey through an event-filled life.
Clif White burst onto the national scene as the architect of the Goldwater nomination - the "sheriff" of that first conservative posse. His fascinating life story began in teaching and service in World War II, but soon turned to politics under Governor Tom Dewey of New York. After his team of conservatives took control of the national Republican Party in 1964, he next followed with the spectacular 1970 upset victory of James Buckley for the U.S. Senate in New York on a third party line, and then helped elect Ronald Reagan in 1980 - using the political team he had taught and nurtured since the capture of the GOP in 1964.
