Film Superlist: Motion Pictures in the U.S. Public Domain, 1894-1939

FILM SUPERLIST (1894-1939) contains approximately 57,000 film copyright entries; approximately 30,000 of those copyrights were not renewed. It shows all the copyright registrations published by the Copyright Office for that 46-year period, with copyright owner, registration date and number. Other information includes production credits, distribution company, and the play or novel on which the movie is based. There is an index of copyright owners and original authors. Each entry shows whether or not the copyright was renewed, giving the renewal date and renewal registration number for those films renewed. Latest edition (2007) has about 500 Copyright Office Search Reports confirming non-renewal of the most important film that have entered the U.S. public domain.
