This volume is being published primarily for use by Navajo students and Navajo people. It is difficult for most Americans to a conceive of a situation where a large segment of people go to schools where they can learn little about themselves and their culture and history. A major part of the reason many Navajo students do not learn about Navajo history and culture is absence of books about it.
