Travel Air: Wings over the Prairie

Pghillips is the leading author on the history of American general aviation aircraft makers. He continues that here by aouting he products of the long-gone but fiondly remembered Travel Air company. He charts the founding by a habdful of aviation pioneers including Clyde Cessna, Walter Beech and Lloyd Stearman (yes, THAT Cessna, Beech, and Stearman) back when Witchita was making a name for itself as the "Air Capital" of the world. The book is filled with period photos, (in B&W as to be expected) but it would have been nice to have a chapter on the many survivors and restored aircraft still flying. If you're a student of American aircraft builders, you'll need this book in your library. b-12
