Visually appealing ephemeral material and material specially connected with the Grolier Club are included. The book accompanied the exhibition held at the Grolier Club from January 26 to March 10, 2006. The Extraordinary Life of Charles Dickens contains an introduction, an explanation of the John Patterson and the Dickens Archive, an essay on the development of the Patterson Archive, a short retrospective, and a catalogue of exhibition material.
