Here Carla Trujillo, Lambda literary winner, achieves a prize for fiction emphasising human rights and intercultural understanding. Marci, the 11 year old narrator, is both confident and hopeful as she displays an irrepressible sense of humour alongside the rawness of Spanish dialogue in 60's California.
