CATHOLIC INSTRUCTION IN IRELAND 1720-1950, the O'Reilly/Donlevy Catehetical tradition

Cathechisms --particularly small catechisms in question and answer form -- were a key force in the spread of the Reformation and of the Catholic Counter-Reform, which was spearheaded by the Society of Jesus. This study covers one of the three main Irish catechetical traditions -- the Donlevy-O'Reilly - whose influence extended over 200 years. It will interest not only historians and book collectors but also teachers and educationalists in the area of modern catechetics.
