In this, the first book to deal with the awards of the Great War, 1914-18, the author describes the orders, decorations, and medals instituted by the Allies, the Central Powers, neutral countries, and the emergent nations, during or in connection with the war. While existing awards are mearly listed (since information concerning them is easily obtainable from many other sources), alterations or embellishments to their insignia are fully described. Over 150 ribbons are shown in full colour, while 95 photographs and several line drawings illustrate many of the medals, ect.
