The romance of the lace pillow

This illustrated history of hand-made lace concentrates particularly on the English East Midlands region, and was written shortly before the disappearance of its once flourishing lace industry. The book examines the origins and history of the industry, describing its characteristic types of lace and wide variety of bobbins. The "tells" (counting songs) of lace school children are featured, along with a glossary of terms.
