This twelve volume series is based on the work of the University of Hertfordshire’s Centre for Regional and Local History which, with the help of local historians and genealogists, has computerized the records for the 167,298 individuals recorded as living in Hertfordshire in the 1851 Census. This is the first fully mature and reliable English census and this is the first time its results have been computerized and analyzed for an entire English county. It provides a mine of fascinating information about mid-19th-century society of great historical importance and local interest.
