Catalogue of the Predynastic Egyptian Collections in the Ashmolean Museum (Griffith Institute Publications)

The Ashmolean's collection of Predynastic Egyptian objects is widely regarded as the most representative of its kind anywhere in the world. This is the first catalogue of the collection, and in addition to the basic documentation and illustration of over 2000 objects, it includes a commentary and up-to-date review of their chronological and cultural importance. A large proportion of the material derives from excavations by Flinders Petrie and his associates, notably from the cemetery site of Naqada. Reprinted with corrections.
