Without the Holy Spirit, there would be no Christianity. The distinct purpose of the coming of the Holy Spirit to indwell believers is to fulfill Christ's commitment to His followers that this Spirit "would guide you into all truth" (John 16:13).In First Corinthians chapter twelve, the apostle Paul begins the extended discussion of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are not the only gifts that believers possess, but they are included in the broad scope of the Holy Spirit's work in the believer's life. This commentary is divided into three parts: the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit's Baptism, and finally, the Spirit's infilling of the believer.
