It is the aim of the author to present an interdisciplinary approach to the field of adult religious education by drawing on the various disciplines that have made significant contributions to our understanding of adulthood. An approach to adult religious education from the vantage oint of one discipline, be it psychology, educational theory, or any other discipline, will necessarily omit many essential viewpoints that need to be considered
