This invigorating book illustrates how easy it is to fall into the nationalist trap of attributing the special blessing of God to our own country. Drawing on recent case studies from around the world, it examines the way in which a false, spiritualized nationalism has infected the Church, and considers in particular the consequences on Britain and the United States. The Bible's teaching on the nature of the Christian Church is explored as the author argues that there is no need to suppress our different identities as British, American, Serb, German, Afro-Caribbean, etc. because the faith that unites us is greater than the national or ethnic divisions that separate us.
