Wines & Vines of California

The purpose of this book is to provide readers with an introduction both to the world of California wines and vines and to some basic concepts in geography by presenting the former within the context of the latter. Wine is at once inherently interesting and distinctly geographica, so putting the two together is not only logical, but also educational. The organization of the book follows the two central divisions in geography, systematic and regional. The first five chapters are systematic in nature, treating wine making, the physical environment, major grape varieties, viticultural areas, and wine labels. The remaining nine chapters explore the regional organization of grape growing and wine making in California.
