Description:
For 37 years, Visual Studies Workshop (VSW) Press has been a crucible of experimentation that has helped to define and shape the contemporary artists’ book scene. Having published more than 450 titles, the best of VSW Press’ production has set the standard for what an artist can do in the codex form. This bibliography, annotated by the artists who made the work, provides an opportunity to review the press’ exemplary body of work and the rare chance to hear from the artists themselves. The legacy of the VSW Press has yet to fully be grasped; this volume is the first step in defining that history, allowing us to begin to reflect on its merits and achievements. This well-considered boxed volume is edited by VSW founder Joan Lyons, with an introduction by writer Johanna Drucker, one of the field’s foremost experts.
