Description:

There are 50 restaurants described in this book telling about some historic buildings in Pennsylvania. Many of these places are still operating as restaurants. Each has its story told, a black and white drawing and some recipes. All except 8 are in the southeast corner of the state, so geographically it does not cover the whole area very well. Addresses, phone numbers and hours are given. Since this book was written in 1986 one should definitely call and try to look up on the internet for current information. The recipes are interesting. My family enjoys duck and there was an excellent recipe for Dobbin House's roast duck Adams County. There was a very questionable crab cake recipe that contained 1 lb. of crab but also included a large diced tomato, 1 cup of bread crumbs and 4 slices of bread, 4 slices of cheese. I wonder how you ever would have known it was a crab cake to taste the crab. There are some other recipes that you could find elsewhere, lasagna chocolate mousse, stuffed mushrooms. Still, this is a book for those who enjoy history and recipes and some of the interesting buildings which also happen to be restaurants.
