Egyptian Short Stories

Egyptian Short Stories, selected and translated by Denys Johnson-Davies, contains 17 stories by such well-known writers as Naguib Mahfouz (1988 Nobel Laureat in Literature), Yusuf Idris, Baha Taher, Yahya Taher Abdullah, Abdul Rahman Fahmy, Yusuf Sibai, Sonallah Ibrahim, Yahya Hakki, and Gamil Atia Ibrahim. Denys Johnson-Davies served as editor of the now defunct Arab Writers Series (Heinemann) and has many translations to his credit, including Three Sontinents Press' Season of Migration to the North and The Weddding of Zein, both by Tayeb Sallih.
