Urban Shalom: Restoring Hope and Justice to Global Communities Affected by Modern Slavery

What does it truly mean to be set free and live in the freedom Jesus offers? As Christians, our own liberation compels us to help liberate others, seeking justice for those who are enslaved spiritually, emotionally, or even physically by modern-day slave holders known as human traffickers. But it's about more than being rescued from sin. It's about being healed so that we all can flourish under the glory of God. Our goal is transformation: starting with the character of God, moving into compassionate communities, being rooted in Jesus, and then engaging in God's mission of shalom where harmful values are shifted and relationships are restored. But we can't talk about slavery without talking about our mutual brokenness. We must learn from the great physician, comforting and caring for the wounded while we ourselves are being healed.
