Air and Space Power in the New Millennium (Csis Significant Issues Series)

This volume suggests that modern air and space power will be the central building block of a new strategic paradigm. The authors argue that the combination of reach, speed, striking power, survivability, and information superiority conferred by air and space power today favors a "vertical" perspective on the conduct of war over the classic, terrain-bound, "horizontal" perspective. Properly understood and exploited, air and space power will permit the creation of a base of operations located in the third dimension--air and space--that could serve as the foundation for theaterwide operations for all U.S. forces.
