Snow Seen: The Films and Photographs of Michael Snow
Description:
1980, hardcover edition. This book was printed in Canada by Peter Martin Associates. When a New York edition was announced, New York Zoetrope basically did a cancel on the title page, affixing their label on the title page, over the original Canadian publisher. 184 pages, excellent b&w photo montages, film strips, etc. This book began in 1973 as a PhD dissertation. It was completed in 1975 and since then has been thoroughly revised and enlarged before appearing here as a finished book. Michael Snow became one of the major figures in Northern American avant garde film. He achieved major success at his 1979 Paris exhibition. Here is the first major study of the filmmaker/photographer.
