Acadia: The Story Behind the Scenery

Visit this land where waves assault impassive rocks, carriage roads ramble serenely under red spruce and birch, lobstermen and clam diggers harvest, and beaver and deer thrive. Acadia National Park, located on the coast of Maine, had its beginnings in 1916, as Sieur de Monts National Monument. In 1919, Congress created Lafayette National Park. In 1929, it was renamed Acadia National Park.
