The Accurate Rifle
Description:
Because of its age, many specifics are of less interest than when originally published (1972, I think). For example, top cartridges then have frequently been replaced by others. Nevertheless, the principles described, and the basis for them (and even sometimes the puzzles) are generally still valid. The book is mostly about bench rest shooting, though the author was also a hunter and makes frequent contrasts between bench rest and hunting practices. I don't believe any of the recommendations for achieving high accuracy have been proven false. It's new enough that most of the references are still valid (e.g. powders, toolmakers). It's a good reference.
