American Gunsmiths: A Source Book

Among the ever expanding crop of books relating to the gun collecting field, there have been many lists of gunsmiths. From the pioneering efforts of Charles W. Sawyer in 1910 to the recent studies on the makers of the individual states, more than fifty lists have been published. Unfortunately, most of these are long out of print and not available to the average collector. Those that are available are either incomplete or limited in scope. This work is an attempt to give the collector basic information on the names, initials, and other markings that appear on American guns.
