The search for missing friends: Irish immigrant advertisements placed in the Boston pilot

Volume II continues the chronicle of Irish immigration to America during the famine decade of 1847-1856. Many who reached Quebec, Montreal, Boston, New York or elsewhere often hoped to join relatives already here. Many of these arrivals, members of families separated at dock-side or Irish parents and sibblings who had lost track of their "American" kin, placed ads in the Boston Pilot, the city's major Catholic newspaper. Herin, with indexes, are 532 pages of transcribed advertisements for those lost relatives -revealing their poignant stories and information on over 7500 immigrants.
