This book comprises full acounts of the silver and copper coinages of New England, the Lord Baltimore money for Maryland, the Rosa Americanas, the St. Patrick or Mark Newby coppers, the Bermuda pieces, the early action of Virgimia relating to coinage, and also of some influential attempts with the same purpose, made in the early part of the eighteenth century : the acts and laws relating to coinage passed or proposed by the several States, previous to the establishment of the United States mint, as well as descriptions of all known coins or tokens struck especially for circulation in America, together with whatever is known of their history. Also descriptions and illustrations of the Washington Cents, etc., and of the early patterns of the Mint of the United States. ~ It is illustrated with ten accurate plates, by the heliotype process, of the coins upon which it treats, as well as copies of some of the early manuscripts relating to the subject, by the same process, and also by many excellent wood cuts engraved expressly for this work. ~ July 1875 ~ isbn 0880001372
