Seasonal Hearth

A look at daily life of women in early America. Using the seasons and four charming paintings as the natural divisions in time and activities, this book depicts the home life of the early American woman from 1600 on. Each section describes the work and crafts done by women during that time of year, how her day was organized, and how she raised her family. Hechtlinger also includes numerous recipes and menus from early American life as well as excerpts from contemporary women's diaries and letters.
