Central Asia: Foundations of Change (Leon B. Poullada Memorial Lecture Series)

An expanded version of lectures delivered by the author at Princeton University in 1993. Presents some of Central Asia's enduring realities, and the institutions that have been found to best address them. McChesney (history, New York University) discusses the ways in which problems and issues within four contexts geographical/spacial, economic, social and political have been perceived and articulated, and how different, particularly "Central Asian," ways of coping with those issues have evolved.
