One of the most familiar and frequently recurring chores of the engineer, student or technician is the rapid and exact conversion of measurement units of one system into the heterogeneous, yet related, units of other systems. Each individual retains in his memory, or at easy access, the conversion factors of those units other than these, he must often refer to various handbooks before desired development can be accomplished.
