Here is the story of Fort Defiance, a symbol of Navajo struggles to maintain their homeland and freedom. From 1851 when the fort was the storm center of the Navajo wars, to 1968 when the fort became the center of the Tribe's war on poverty, this is the history of the Four Corners area, the Dine, and the continuing struggle to maintain the way of the People within the white man's society.
