Description:
Frank Kleinholz (1901-1987) was an American modernist painter whose work was influenced by American social realists (Marsh / Evergood), German expressionists (Grosz / Kollwitz), Mexican muralists (Rivera / Orozco / Siqueiros) and early 20th century Paris modernists. Sixty-one illustrations (16 in color) portray the artistic development of Kleinholz, who gave up his career as a lawyer to become a full-time artist at age 44.
