He also explains Edwardian gardening techniques and how the countryside today differs from the landscapes Edith enjoyed on her long rambles and bicycle rides in 1906.
Spaces are left for the modern reader's own daily notes and observations, so as to accumulate a mass of facts about his own garden. Conscientious use of this book wil eventually lead to a better understanding of the garden and - inevitably - better gardening.
