Petroleum Basin Studies

Reviews the tectonic setting and basin development of a number of selected petroleum provinces, and documents the history of their exploration and commercial development. Traces the evolution of play concepts in the example basins, and how exploration models change with increasing data. Also includes demonstrations of how to apply ideas and models developed in one area to different regions. The basins discussed illustrate a range of petroleum provinces, some mature, others relatively unexplored, which are located in a variety of geological settings, including the middle east, western Canada, western Australia, the North Sea, the US interior, the Rocky Mountains, California, Gabon, Niger, and China.
