Belfast, 1907. Beautiful Maggie Pierce has left her comfortable home and family to marry her Catholic sweetheart, Paul Mason. Her family are shocked by what they see as her treachery and disown her - but Maggie is determined to make a success of her new life, come what may. When Maggie gives birth to their daughter, Sarah, their happiness seems complete.
