Light, sound, radio and many other kinds of wave play a very important part in our everyday lives, as well as in scientific work, and diffraction is one of the most common phenomena associated with waves. The aim of this book is to explain the basic phenomena and the important role diffraction plays in the formation of images of all kinds, in limiting the formation of images, and in providing alternative means of gathering information as, for example, in x-ray.
