Anglo-saxon Sculpture

This book is an introduction to one of the largest groups of pre-Conquest artefacts, carved stone monuments produced by the Anglo-Saxons and Anglo-Scandinavians between A.D 700 and 1066. Unlike contemporary decorative metalwork or manuscripts, this sculpture usually remains in its original location, so that its art styles are a reliable indication of the taste of particular areas.
