On June 21 1919 the German High Seas Fleet, which lay peacefully interned in Scapa Flow, Began to sink before the astonished gaze of a few spectators. On August 1, 1924 the scrap metal firm of Cox & Danks, which had never before lifted a ship, raised their first destroyer. Over the next eight years the rest of the fleet would be raised.
