The Magazine Writer's Handbook: New 1987

Designed to be of interest to writers of magazine articles and short stories, this reference book provides detailed information on over 70 British magazines, and comments on many more. In this edition all the reports have been rewritten, some magazines have been dropped, and over a dozen have been added. For each magazine the author examines a typical issue and offers clear and concise information on target readership and editorial policy, the subjects dealt with, regular columns and features, the type and length of articles and short stories, how best to approach the editor and some idea of the likely payment. There are also sections on presentation of manuscripts, selling, writing picture-story scripts, meeting other writers, reference libraries and a simple guide to word processing.
